Dr. Maria Ashley is a dedicated and talented general dentist recently retired from her Michigan Avenue, Chicago practice after more than 30 years of clinical service to her patients and community.
Maria believes that the “WHY” of what you do, is as important as the “how and what.” Dr. Ashley’s “WHY” was “to make an impact on people’s lives by providing the best oral health care with kindness, dignity, and respect.” Immediately following graduation from dental school, she knew that her “WHY” was propelling her to take a huge chance and open a general practice in downtown Chicago.
Practicing dentistry proved to be much easier than running the business of dentistry. With this revelation, she soon became a proponent of expert practice management advice and became a client of the Pride Institute. Working closely with the new owner and CEO Amy Morgan, Dr. Ashley’s practice grew exponentially as she learned the importance of not only great business acumen, but also time management as it relates to personal and work life balance.
She ultimately became a management consultant with Pride as she began limiting the hours in her practice in preparation for its ultimate sale.
Maria worked for several years as a Pride consultant and successfully trained, coached, and counseled many of her colleagues and teams to success and fulfillment.
For a short time, she also worked with Spear Education as a practice solutions consultant and consultant team manager.
With the continued drive to support and guide her colleagues, Dr. Ashley moved forward independently as the Founder and Managing Director of Discovery Dental Management for Growth and Transitions.
Her vast knowledge and experience extend not only to the day-to-day operations of running a practice but includes all aspects dental business success including transitions and personal growth.
